Festival time always brings the best out of Schull and its community, why not coincide your visit with one of these yearly events. We have the Fastnet Short Film Festival, Art in Schull Week, Calves Week Sailing Regatta and Festival, Schull Agricultural Show, Schull Triathlon Weekend Fun and don’t forget the Ballydehob Jazz Festival.

Entertainment and Dining

Music, drama and the arts are prevalent in Schull. Local and visiting performers can be seen and heard in the local pubs most weekends. Schull is blessed with so many watersporting activities, you may find it difficult to decide between windsurfing, sailing dinghies, kayaks or going under for a bit of scuba diving. You could find everything necessary to fill your stay by wandering down to the pier and checking the local adverts. If sailing is your chosen adventure, novice or just for a tune-up, the Fastnet Marine Outdoor Education Centre is the perfect place to start, offering ’5 day sailing courses’ throughout the summer. Schull Watersport Centre on Pier Road also offer a wide range of activities.

The waters off our picturesque coastline are filled throughout the summertime with dolphins, seals, whales and sharks (if you go to the right areas) – there are a variety of boatmen who would be able to deliver you to just the spot. Stop on one of the islands and take a snapshot or two of the lazing seals (if you’ve got a keen eye, you can usually spot a seal or two playing peek-a-boo around the pier).

Schull Triathlon

A popular yearly event is Schull’s Triathlon which attracts 100s of entrants and spectators from around the country. The exerting course starts at Schull Sailing Centre where the competitors enter the water and swim a 750m triangular course. They then run up to the college playing field, onto their bikes and cycle the 20km route out to Ballyrisode and back, taking in the spectacular scenery as they ride. The run then heads out to the Colla Road and back to the finish line at the college.

Angling

The local angling competitions are a must for those wishing to put a wager on their skills as a ‘Captain Ahab’. The Schull Sea Angling Club holds regular competitions which are open to all visitors; you should check locally for exact dates. If a private outing is your choice, then check the adverts and pick a boat for the day with your family and friends.

Golf

For those seeking a round or three of golf, then courses can be found half an hour’s drive away in both Skibbereen and Bantry.

Choosing Schull as your holiday destination will prove to be one of your better decisions. Schull is as vibrant a village as you will find in West Cork with numerous leisure activities and entertainment available in the locality.

The seaside location makes watersports a main attraction. The village has a renowned sailing centre which offers summer courses to sailors at all levels. Visitors can also enjoy swimming in the harbour or travel a short distance to Ballyrisode or the beautiful Barley Cove. A little further on from Barley Cove is the Mizen Head, where visitors can enjoy views of the Fastnet Rock and Lighthouse (above), the most South-Westerly point in Ireland. Their visitor centre Mizen Vision provides both an abundance of local historical information and a coffee shop. Schull itself has a newly built hotel offering many leisure facilities including a heated pool, gym and beauty salon. A variety of pubs, restaurants and cafés can be found in Schull along with supermarkets, bank, post office, jewellery shops, DVD rental, tennis/basketball courts and more besides. Schull is also home to the Republic’s only planetarium where star gazers can enjoy an in-depth astronomy show.

The Centre Park Bungalow has been specifically designed to cater for our elderly or infirm guests, though of course, it is equally suitable for anyone!

Being the only detached property within the Centre Park complex, this holiday home provides more privacy, a larger living area and greater natural light.

Each holiday home has been equipped to the highest standard with the sole intention of making your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.  Being right in the heart of Schull village further enhances your enjoyment, you will find all Schull’s amenities and nightlife within walking distance.

Centre Park consists of 8 terraced two storey properties, one single storey bungalow, 3 two-bedroomed apartments and 2 one-bedroomed apartments.
